Description
PathEngine is a sophisticated middleware tool-kit for the implementation of intelligent agent movement, built around an advanced implementation of points-of-visibility pathfinding on 3D ground surfaces.

The primary purpose of this exporter is to enable PathEngine ground meshs to be created in Max and exported in PathEngine's XML (or tokenised XML) ground mesh format.

The exporter can also import PathEngine meshes into Max. This import functionality does not support all the content that can be exported with a mesh, so it is important to hold on to the Max files used for exporting meshes.

Part of the HOOPS Rapid Development Platform, this exporter enables you to export your models to the HSF (HOOPS Stream File) format. The plugin can export most of the visualization data in Max with a few limitations. Currently, only one texture map per mesh is handled. To export animations, the plugin takes regular samples of the animation instead of explicitly converting the Max keyframes to avoid conversion problems between how Max and HOOPS handle interpolation. Animations are also restricted to translation and rotation. IK-Animation, morphing and other animation techniques are not supported.

ONX file is a proprietary Onyx Computing 3D file format developed to suit the needs of modelers. The advantages of importing vegetation to Max as ONX files are immense. Besides carrying 3D geometry and UV mapping coordinates, ONX file stores color-per-vertex data and material data including the textures. Currently, the only Onyx modeler that supports all the features of the ONX file format is OnyxGRASS. So, when importing grasses to Max, ONX file will deliver render ready 3D objects. The other Onyx modelers, i.e. OnyxTREE BROADLEAF, OnyxTREE CONIFER, OnyxPALM, OnyxBAMBOO, and OnyxFLOWER, do not export textures and material attributes because the software does not allow you to set these parameters. However, ONX export in these modelers allows you to take the full advantage of their color-per-vertex feature because ONX files will carry color-per-vertex data into Max.
