The hybrid visual language of moving images

Lev Manovich, a leading theorist of digital culture, media and art, and author of the fundamental book "The Language of New Media" has posted some interesting articles on his website discussing changes brought by After Effects, 3D applications and virtual cinematography (Gaeta's "Universal Capture") to visual aesthetics. Definitely recommended. (Note: articles can be found under the "NEW ARTICLES 2006" section)

but does he even know what he’s talking about? Some one needs to fact check and edit these articles.

He has written some very good technical related articles in the past. What you didn’t like in detail?

The claims about After Effects are pushing it. How can you say that AE allows you to work outside the set frame format when the comp itself has a fixed format? And putting 3D images on 2D planes in 3D space is NOT maintaining any data about the 3D object itself. It’s still just a projection of the object.
