VES Open Letter: Call to Action1 Comment
Eric Roth, executive director of the Visual Effects Society, has posted an open letter on the VES website calling for action culminating from the hardships of many VFX studios and their employees. The Oscars that aired this past Sunday showed the VFX industry how little respect there is for the industry in many people's eyes. The demise of the studio Rhythm and Hues who were behind the majority of VFX for Life of Pi, which took home the award for best VFX in a feature film, and the struggles of Digital Domain and Dreamworks are more signs that something has to change. It was only a few years ago when a high up producer in Hollywood was quoted as saying that if he didn't run a VFX studio to the brink of bankruptcy then he wasn't doing his job properly. Read the open letter on VES's website and choose to have your voice heard.
