VES Awards Results
2 Comments
The VES awards were held last night in Los Angeles and the big winner was clearly Life of Pi. Several other projects got a nod however, including Game of Thrones that 3DS Max house Pixomondo did a great deal of work for. Other winners include The Impossible, Brave and The Hobbit. I really think the VES needs to create a new category for non-network shows (aka HBO, Netflix, etc.) so regular broadcast stuff isn’t going up against projects with 5x the time and money. No way to dispute GoT and Boardwalk both have excellent vfx but it’s hardly a level playing field.

Budgets and schedules are hard to consider for judging, though. If CBS can win an award, what’s the incentive for them to increase their budget to HBO levels?
