SynthEyes 1212 is out

New features in the latest version of Andersson Technologies' camera tracking software include:
(Since last reported)

  • multiple camera views, for simplified and accelerated stereo workflow
  • advanced disk caching, especially for SSD and RAID disk systems, complementing the existing RAM cache
  • a Community Translation Project system
  • Python scripting for enterprise customers
  • a new uniform distribution algorithm for the Add Many Trackers operation
  • movie-file-reading improvements including a new Windows Media Foundation (WMF) file reader, and frame timestamp caching for the WMF and the OS X QuickTime reader to speed movie reopen times.
  • a new Linearize phase for forcibly straightening arbitrarily-oriented dolly moves
  • a new 'Matrix' object type, which helps check camera paths
  • a Lidar file importer

The multiple camera views and disk caching features enhance SynthEyes's capabilities to efficiently handle and track stereo material, even long 4K stereo shots. The disk cache can bring large shots located across a network, or that require lengthy decompression, onto a fast local SSD or RAID drive, storing them in a format that works efficiently with the computer's virtual memory system. Both stereo images can be examined and tracked at once, and both sets of trackers monitored simultaneously with SynthEyes's SimulTrack windows.

The "bring your own python" client/server approach lets SynthEyes Python be transparently embedded into other 3D applications or into user-interface packages such as PySide or PyQT. Python programs have simultaneous direct access to both applications, without the need to set up communications channels or interchange file formats. Python support is an optional feature available to enterprise customers.

yet another product without examples. What is it with small companies. No time for proper marketing? Or do they want you to download and install the trial version?

Here are a bunch of examples

You have probably seen at least a few of these.

Tracking software is all pretty much the same…either it works or it doesn’t. And this one most definitely works. There are also a number of tutorials available on the site, which not only show you examples, it shows it being used.

Actually, Russ has released a lot of demos and tutorials via his YouTube channel. Well worth a look:
